One of the unique procedures I perform is a Shoulder Hydrodistention. This little known procedure can improve range of motion of the shoulder and reduce pain in the shoulder powerfully. I have performed almost 3000 of these procedures as of this writing and have tracked outcomes on thousands of people. This procedure involves 3 steps. 1: I provide an ultrasound guided suprascapular nerve block to reduce pain in the shoulder. 2: I inject about 90ml of fluid into the back of the shoulder under direct ultrasound guidance. The fluid is sat water and Ropivicaine anesthetic and it stretches out the shoulder capsule and improves range of motion. People who have limited range of motion from frozen shoulder, arthritis or are 3 months or more post shoulder arthroscopic surgery can benefit. Most people get 30-100 degrees more motion and are very pleased. About 10% need to do it again for maximum benefit. Post surgical capsular restriction does best, then true frozen shoulder and then arthritis. The risks are super low and the benefit is real. If you have loss of range of motion of the shoulder and associated pain, come on in and see if you are a candidate. You can read more here.
